First-time buyers seize chance to move straight into family living in Faversham

First time buyers, Phoebe and Beckham, had been determined not to stay renting for long. And their optimism paid off, spotting their opportunity amid the media headlines not only to get onto the property ladder, but skip straight to their future family home.

While many other house hunters were putting their plans on hold ahead of the Autumn Budget, Phoebe and Beckham instead saw conditions were shifting in buyers’ favour and decided to act. Interest rates were stabilising, mortgage options had increased and there was less competition for properties. Along with the financial help available on new build homes, it was one of the most favourable buying environments in years.

The couple traded in their maisonette in Orpington for a three-bedroom house in Faversham, using Fernham Homes’ Deposit Paid offer which contributed 5% towards their deposit.

Alongside this, they benefited from the housebuilder’s all-inclusive specification, meaning their home was move-in ready – with everything from kitchen appliances and wardrobes down to bathroom mirrors and robe hooks – at no extra cost.

Speaking recently to The London Standard about their move, Phoebe highlighted the immediate perks they’re enjoying: “Because it is brand new, it is all clean and fresh. I really like the fact that we will be able to do what we want with it, because when you are renting you are so limited.”

It wasn’t just value for money that drew them to the historic Kent market town. Having grown up nearby in Canterbury, Phoebe already knew the area well and has lots of family and friends still living nearby.

Described by The Standard as an “excessively pretty market town”, Faversham is renowned for its independent shops, award-winning food and drink and busy cultural and local events scene, including the oldest market in Kent. Alongside its “picture- postcard looks and surrounding countryside”, it’s well connected to London by road and rail, which is ideal for Phoebe’s developing career as a crime scene investigator in the capital.

Moving in earlier this spring, the couple are still unpacking boxes but are already enjoying their new life as homeowners and looking forward to the future in their family home.

At time of writing, there are currently 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes available at Faversham from £400,000.
