Fernham Homes Announce Local Charity Partnership

Fernham Homes are delighted to announce its new partnership with West-Malling based charity, Spadework. The charity enables people to be more independent, feel less isolated and live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives by providing services to adults with learning and other disabilities, people experiencing problems with their mental health and those living with early-onset dementia.

The charity, local to our head office, has been running for nearly 40 years and has a café, garden centre and farm shop where Trainees (those who use the services) gain practical and social skills across horticulture, creativity, cooking, woodwork and more. The café provides a safe space for people to come together and experience the warmth and friendly atmosphere of the community which has developed. Spadework also offers a remarkable dementia service offering support to those living with the disease, as well as their families and carers, through activity groups, peer support groups and a memory café.

As part of Spadework’s fundraising activities, the charity sought companies who would work in partnership to support in expanding the opportunities and services offered to Trainees, people living with dementia and those experiencing mental health problems. From fundraising events and staff charity days to providing expertise to assist in the re-development of the onsite farm shop, including planning, budgeting and implementation, we will help the charity achieve their goals and continue the incredibly impactful work taking place.

Kris Healey, CEO, Spadework commented: “We look forward to working with Fernham Homes to achieve our mission of enabling people to lead more independent lives.  Working with a locally based company who share our vision is an exciting prospect. I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to the entire team at Fernham Homes and thank them for coming on board in what we hope will be an exciting year for us at Spadework.”

Sean Ellis, Managing Director of Fernham Homes commented: “We are delighted to have selected Spadework, based locally, as our partner Charity and look forward to building a strong relationship with them over the next three years. As a team, we have committed to raise a minimum of £10,000 per annum and each member of staff shall volunteer 2 days per year to support the fantastic work Spadework undertakes in our local community.”
