Fernham Homes team walks 26.2 miles for local charity partnerships

Our Team have recently undertaken a fundraising initiative for our charity partner, Spadework. The Big Site Visit on Friday 19 May saw a group of our employees complete a challenging 26.2 mile, although for some it was closer to a 28 mile, cross country route from our Head Office in West Malling to the award winning development, Rosewood Place, Matfield and back again. With a target of £2,620, our team of dedicated volunteers exceeded this and raised an outstanding £8,002 for the worthy cause.

Spadework helps people to be more independent, feel less isolated and live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives by providing services to adults with learning and other disabilities, people experiencing problems with their mental health and those living with early-onset dementia. The service has been running for nearly 40 years and has a café, garden centre and farm shop where Trainees (those who use the services) gain practical and social skills across horticulture, creativity, cooking, woodwork and more.

Sean Ellis, Managing Director of Fernham Homes commented: “I am proud of our committed team for completing the challenging marathon walk and raising an incredible £8,002 for Spadework. The charity does tremendous work helping people lead more independent lives, and the facilities and services they offer are superb. As a team, we have committed to raise a minimum of £10,000 each year for Spadework and each member of staff has two volunteer days so we can continue raising vital funds for the charity and make a substantial difference in our local community.”
